1M Masks has been an incredible team effort over the past few weeks.
We have distributed over 100,000 masks thus far. Every single one of them has been delivered directly into the hands of healthcare workers and hospital employees. The demand has never been higher, and we are seeing a new order come in every minute.
Another 150,000 masks are currently in transit, with 80,000 of them arriving this week. We have also responded to an increasing need for face shields. Our inventory is low, but we are currently processing all incoming orders, to be shipped by our partner Ware2Go. Our first shipment of shields – 2,200 total – also arrived this week and we already got over a dozen shipments out today. We have gowns arriving tomorrow as there is an acute shortage across the US.
A lot of you have been wondering about expanding the footprint of 1M Mask beyond New York (New Orleans and Michigan are two hotspots). For now, our focus will remain within the state of New York, but we have been sending cartons of PPE to out-of-state locations in dire need where possible.
Finally, a note on funding: We have raised a total of $425,000 – thank you to all of our amazing donors! Even with all of their generous contributions, we only have enough funds for one further order (our sixth). If you know of any companies, startups, investors or foundations that can donate anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000, please help us raise more funding by spreading the word!
We are not yet out of this crisis. And until we are, 1M Masks will persist.
